Creations
A Creation is a file or app that a chat builds for you: a document, a spreadsheet, a data file, a web page, or an interactive app. Creations are kept with the chat that made them and collected under Creations in the sidebar.
What a Creation can be
Each Creation has a kind, shown on its card:
Page — a web page.
App — an interactive HTML app, such as a calculator or dashboard.
Document — DOCX or PDF.
Spreadsheet — XLSX.
Data — CSV, previewed as a table.
Markdown, Code (JSON and similar), and Text.
The Creations page groups these into Apps & pages and Files.
How a Creation is made
Ask for one. When your message asks to create, build, draft, write, generate, or export something, or names a file type (spreadsheet, CSV, HTML, DOCX), Records Labs turns each file in the answer into a Creation after the answer finishes. For interactive requests ("build me a calculator for…") it produces an App. "Draft me a one-pager" produces a Markdown document from the answer.
In the chat you see a card headed Created · N artifact(s) with each title and kind, and the Creations panel opens beside the chat. The panel's toolbar switches between the chat's Creations, copies or downloads the current one, opens Share, or opens More for Open in Creations, Knowledge, Copy link, and Upload a file (your own file, up to 50 MB).
Creations are not made in Private chat, and an answer can produce up to eight.
Versions
Asking for changes in the same chat updates the Creation instead of making a new one; the match is by filename, then title. Nothing is added when the content is unchanged or the answer only produced a partial file.
Open a Creation and look at Version history in the right rail. Rows show v1, v2, and so on, with current or live badges. Restore (or Roll back on a live page) makes an earlier version current; earlier versions are kept. If a page is published, edits made in chat update the live page automatically.
The Creations page
The gallery shows every active Creation in your organization. Tabs are All, Apps & Pages, and Files, with a search box, sorting by Recently updated, Name A-Z, or Largest, a type filter on the Apps & Pages and Files tabs, and a Live / Drafts filter for apps. Each card shows the kind, version, owner, and a link to the chat it came from.
Open a Creation to see its preview with these buttons: Edit in chat, Download (files), Open in tab (apps and pages), Live page (when published), and Share. The right rail holds Actions, Publish or Status, Access (while live), Owner (with Transfer), Sources, Version history, and view counts.
There is no in-place editor. Edit in chat reopens the chat that made the Creation. If it has no chat, or that chat is in Trash, the owner or an Admin gets a new linked chat that says "Tell me what to change and I'll save it as a new version." You can also paste a Creation's link into any chat to work on it there.
Sharing
Click Share. The Share tab offers:
Restricted — only the people, teams, and roles you add.
Everyone at {your organization} — anyone in your organization, signed in.
Anyone with the link — view-only, no sign-in, an unlisted link. Use Rotate link to invalidate an old one.
Share links are view-only. Publishing is what puts a Creation at a real address.
Publishing a page or app
The Publish tab turns a page, an app, or a Markdown Creation into a hosted web page. Other kinds (DOCX, PDF, XLSX, CSV, Code, and Text) can't be published; share or download them instead. Choose the Domain (your Records-hosted site, or a Custom domain verified by DNS), the Access (Anyone on the web or Organization members, the default), a Minimum member role, and the Path. Advanced options cover Search engine indexing (off by default), Analytics & tracking, and Embed this creation.
Every publish runs a safety check first, which blocks secrets, credential-collecting forms, and offsite redirects, and limits apps to 5 MB. The button reads Publish, then Running checks…, then either Published — it's live with View page and Copy link, or Resolve N issues.
If your organization has no pages site yet (Help Center sites don't count, because they only publish approved articles), an Admin can create a Records-hosted one right from the Publish tab, with no DNS work: {your-org}.recordslabs.site, or {your-org}-pages.recordslabs.site if your Help Center already uses that address. An Admin can also add a custom domain. Unpublish takes the page offline; visitors get a 404 and embeds stop loading, but sharing access is unchanged.
Download, save, and add to knowledge
Download gives the Creation in its own format. DOCX, XLSX, and PDF are rendered on download, and DOCX, PDF, and Markdown downloads end with a Sources section listing the sources behind them.
In the chat panel, the download menu also offers Save to Google Drive and Save to OneDrive; the first time, you are asked to connect the account. Document kinds (DOCX, PDF, Markdown, and text) also offer Copy text, as Markdown or plain text.
Knowledge adds a copy of the Creation to your organization's knowledge so answers can cite it, with the usual Access & classification controls. Remove from knowledge stops answers using the copy; the Creation itself stays.
Deleting
Delete moves a Creation to Trash with an Undo toast. It stays restorable for 30 days by default; an Admin can change this under Settings → Security → Data → Trash retention. Only the owner or an Admin can delete or transfer a Creation. Building Creations costs the same credits as the chat turns that produce them; there is no separate charge.
