Collections and navigation
Everything here lives in the Help Center builder under Help Desk → Help Center. Changes publish immediately.
Collections
A collection is a group of articles shown on the home page and in navigation. A site can have up to 12 collections. Until you add one, the live site groups articles by category on its own.
Collections are set on the builder's Content step, or on the Collections tab of the Help Center list, where you pick the site first. They are built from Note categories. In the Categories list, click a category to turn it into a collection in one click. Every published article with that category appears in it ("via category").
Then fine-tune each one under Collections:
Rename it. The name shown on your Help Center is independent of the category name.
Add a short description (shown on the collection card).
Change the category rule, or set it to None — hand-picked only and build the list by hand.
Add extra articles that do not share the category. They show "pinned"; click Unpin to take one out.
Hide an article that matches the category but does not belong. Hidden articles show "hidden"; click Restore to bring one back.
Create a new collection with New collection name, or Copy a collection… to start from one on another of your sites.
Collections are flat. There is no nesting, and you cannot hand-order the articles inside a collection: articles that match the category come first, then the ones you added.
Header links and footer
On the Navigation step:
Header links (up to 6) show at the top of every page.
Footer links (up to 8) show at the bottom.
Each link can point to the Home page, Contact us (opens chat), the Resources section, one of your collections, an article, or a custom URL. Labels are up to 40 characters. Drag the handle to reorder, or use the up and down arrows. A Contact us link only shows while a chat widget is connected.
Footer text is filled in automatically with the current year and your Help Center's name. Edit it to say anything else; clear it to restore the automatic line, which keeps the year current every January.
When a chat widget is connected on the Support step, a Contact us button appears in the footer on its own.
Layouts
Choose on the Basics step; changeable any time.
Library. Collection cards and featured articles on the home page, breadcrumbs, previous and next links. Best for support articles, FAQs, and policies.
Technical docs. A persistent section sidebar, compact search, on-page headings with anchors, breadcrumbs, previous and next. Best for configuration references and integration guides.
Changing layout changes presentation only. It does not change what is published or who can read it.
Fonts, logo, and colors
On the Branding step:
Theme color. A hex color used for buttons, links, and accents.
Color scheme. Dark (the default), Light, or Auto (follows each visitor's device setting).
Typography. Separate choices for Headings (H1 and H2), Subheadings (H3 to H5), and Paragraphs. Paragraphs is the fallback when the others are unset. Fonts come from a fixed list (Inter is the default, plus System UI, Humanist sans, Serif, Old-style serif, and Slab serif); the site does not load font files from other services.
Logo. Upload an image or paste an image URL. It shows in the header and as the browser tab icon.
The preview beside the controls updates as you change them.
